Founded in 1578 by princes Starrabba Alagona of the Giardinello, Pachino is the main agricultural centre of the Suth zone of the province of Siracusa.
Flourishing its agriculture, based especially on greenhouses cultivations of typical products.
Famous in the world is the little tomato of Pachino, species growing in grapes in the greenhouses of the zone. But from Pachino many products of every kind leave for the whole Europe, for instance the little pumpkin. Famous is also the melon, another product of the greenhouses.
Of good quality also the wine production of the zone. The town map is strictly geometrical and witnesses its foundation as rural village.
The only important monumental aspect is the mother church, dedicated to the very saint Crucifix, carried out in 1790.
